Kid's Beginner Sewing Classes
If your child is interested in learning how to sew and has not had experience doing so, or has had very limited experience this is the class for them. The goal is for students to learn, have fun, appreciate what they can do with the sewing machine, and build confidence in their own abilities.
All students do not learn at the same rate, nor are they capable of mastering all the techniques in the allotted time. The aim is not to have them do everything perfectly, nor make them expert sewists in 12 hours. I believe success is gained one small step at a time and perfection only comes with lots of practice and experience.
Students will learn the basics of sewing: about their sewing machine, sewing terms, sewing machine stitches, controlling the fabric, sewing straight lines, sewing curved lines, pivots, etc.. They will learn by explanation, demonstration, practice, and two or three small projects (depending on time): a square pillow, a heart pillow, and a star pillow. At the end of the 6 sessions, the students will receive a Certificate of Completion for Beginning Sewing and be eligible to take technique classes.
Requirement: Student should be at least 8 years old and capable of appropriate behavior in the sewing room. 6 consecutive Wednesday classes, 2 hours each, 3:45-5:45PM.
*For these classes you can use one of the shops sewing machines.
About your sewing Instructor:
My name is Barbara and I am the new sewing instructor at Angel’s for the Kid Classes. I have been teaching kid’s classes for 14 years in my home, working with youngsters age 6 and up as well as adults. In addition to Beginner Sewing, I have taught Technique Classes, Beginner Quilting, and Beginner Machine Embroidery. I am a retired certified teacher having taught high school in both public and private institutions. I am also a licensed Martha Pullen/Babylock instructor as well as a Sulky licensed instructor. I am looking forward to working with your youngsters in the New Year. Starting in January, 2025, we have a new Beginner Sewing, 6-week class for the novice sewer and a new format for the Sunday classes teaching techniques. I hope to meet many of you and your budding sewist in my classes.

You can sign up for lessons either over the phone or in the store.
It is very important that you read the details of each class description. Within the class description, you will see the items that you will need for the project as well as the skill level for that class. Some classes, you will need to have certain things prepared for the class, so it is very important to carefully read the description.

Lesson Cancellations:
With every machine purchase at Angels (with the exception of a longarm and mutli-needles) you get 6 FREE lessons. If you do not call to cancel your lesson within 48 hours of the lesson you forfeit that lesson. This means that the missed lesson will be counted as one of your 6 lessons.
