What little kid can resist a fun twirly skirt? With layers of fabric spread out, this cute and colorful skirt resembles a carnation! By using a serger, this skirt is quick and easy to sew. The serger ruffling foot creates voluminous ruffles, adding to the twirl factor. There will be a review of threading a serger for 4-thread overlock, and a 3-thread narrow or rolled hem. In addition, you will learn how to use the ruffle foot. The skirt will fit a child ages 2-4. You can add or subtract layers to fit a smaller or larger child.

If providing your own materials you will need everything listed below:

For a skirt for a 3-4 year old, line up the following fabrics.  For a taller or shorter child, add or subtract rows as needed:

Strips are WOF fabric, and 2.5-3” wide. Please cut ahead of class time, and label for the appropriate rows.

•          Row 1:  1 strip
•          Row 2:  2 strips
•          Row 3:  3 strips, plus about 12 inches
•          Row 4:  6 strips
•          Row 5:  10 strips
•          Row 6:  15 strips, plus about 22 inches

Also required: a piece of 1.5-2” wide elastic the measurement of child’s waist minus one inch. (a 3-4 year old would require an average of 20-21” of elastic).
