Quilting on Your Domestic Machine

Join Kristi for this beginners quilting class to learn some of the basics of quilting. We suggest that you take home your quilt sandwiches from the class and use one of our many "It Take Two" books for project ideas on how to use the sandwiches you've made.

Fabric and Supplies needed:
-For practicing on the quilt "sandwiches", bring 2-3 fat quarters (18"x21"), 2-3 pieces of muslin or backing fabric (18"x21"), and 2-3 pieces of batting that measures 18"x21"
-If you want to practice "stitch-in-the-ditch" quilting, you should bring a pieced patchwork sample that measures 12"x12" or larger
-Thread
-Scissors
-Any marking tools you may have such as a Frixon pen, a water soluble fabric marker, chalk marker, and/or Hera marker
-Quilter's safety pins ( other options are quilt basting spray, or Free Fuse Basting Powder)
-Quilting gloves (my favorite are Quilters Touch Machinger gloves)
-Quilting stencils are optional, but bring some if you have them
-In addition to your regular presser foot, bring the following feet if you have  them: joining foot, walking foot, free motion or embroidery foot

*It is very helpful if your machine has the capability to lower the feed dogs, but if not, bring an index card and some masking tape (Kristi will show you a sewing room hack)
