May Baskets



Class #1- Cut and sew basket blocks (there will be "homework" for participants so participants can finish up their blocks on their own time between classes)
Class #2- Cut plain alternating blocks and setting triangles
Class #3- Sew the blocks and borders together and add embellishments 
Class #4- Suggestions for marking and quilting

Fabric requirements:
1 yard of background color fabric ( for alternating blocks, setting triangles, and borders)
1/4 yard or a fat quarter for the basket color. (6"x24" scrap would also work)
Six 6"x8" colorful scraps for the basket tops
1/8 yard (or a fat quarter) for the narrow inside border
3/4 yard quilt back and hanging sleeve
1/4 yard for quilt binding (or a fat quarter)
Quilt batting- minimum of 32"x26"

Tools and Notions:
Sewing machine
Rotary cutter, mat, ruler
Fabric Scissors
Pins
Pencil or Frixon Pen
A quilt stencil that fits a 4"x4" square (optional)
A border stencil that fits a 1 1/2" wide border (optional)
A variety of small buttons to use as embellishments (optional)
